Install Our Caring Circle on Desktop

If you sit at a computer for work, installing Caring Circle on the desktop makes the difference between "another tab somewhere" and "a real app I can pin to my Dock." Same dashboard, but it opens in its own window, with no browser chrome and a real entry in your Dock or Start menu. Three clicks, about a minute.

Chrome or Edge — either works. The install icon and dialog look identical in both. Pick whichever browser you already use day-to-day.

Open Caring Circle in Chrome or Edge

Open app.ourcaringcircle.com in Chrome or Edge. Sign in if you haven't already — the install option only appears once the dashboard has loaded.

Click the install icon in the address bar

Look at the right edge of the address bar — to the right of the URL but to the left of the bookmark star. You'll see a small icon that looks like a monitor with a down arrow inside it. Click it.

Can't see the icon? Chrome and Edge only show the install icon once the page meets a few technical conditions (loaded over HTTPS, valid manifest, etc.). Caring Circle ticks all of those. If the icon is missing, try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac) and check the address bar again.

Click Install in the dialog

A small dialog appears next to the install icon. It shows the Caring Circle logo and name. Click Install.

Use Caring Circle from your Dock or Start menu

Caring Circle opens in its own window — no address bar, no tabs, just the app. On Mac, it gets a Dock entry; on Windows, a Start menu entry; on Linux, an app-launcher entry. Right-click and pin it for one-click access from now on.

Notifications on desktop

Once Caring Circle is installed, the first time you open it the dashboard will offer to turn on desktop notifications. Accept the prompt and you'll get system-style alerts — at the top-right on Mac, at the bottom-right on Windows — when something needs you, even if the Caring Circle window isn't focused.

You'll get three categories of pushes, each with its own toggle in Settings:

Quiet hours are respected automatically — no pushes between 10 PM and 7 AM in your local time. On Mac, Do Not Disturb / Focus modes also suppress Caring Circle notifications, the same way they suppress Mail or Messages.

macOS Safari (a brief note)

Safari 17 and later on macOS supports a similar flow called Add to Dock: open Caring Circle in Safari, click the Share button in the toolbar, then choose Add to Dock. It works — but Safari's web-app push notifications have the same iOS-style limitation: pushes only fire once you've launched the app from the Dock (not from a Safari tab). For most people, Chrome or Edge is the lower-friction path on desktop.

Troubleshooting

I don't see the install icon in the address bar. Three things to check, in order: (1) you're on Chrome or Edge, not Firefox; (2) the page is fully loaded — wait a moment after sign-in; (3) hard-refresh with Ctrl+Shift+R (or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac).

I'm on Firefox. Firefox doesn't support installing web apps on desktop. The cleanest path is to install Chrome or Edge for this one app — both are free, and once Caring Circle is installed it runs in its own window regardless of which browser you use day-to-day for everything else.

I installed but can't find the app. On Mac, look in Applications (or the Dock if you pinned it). On Windows, search the Start menu for "Caring Circle." On Linux, it should appear in your usual application launcher under "Caring Circle."

The app window feels too small / too large. Resize it like any other window — drag the corner. Chrome and Edge remember the size and position for next launch.

How do I uninstall? Inside the Caring Circle window, click the 3-dot menu in the top-right (or use the menu bar on Mac) → Uninstall Caring Circle. Uninstalling never affects your account or data — sign back in from the browser any time.
